Who on earth?

My name is Cathryn. I’m no longer 18, I’m British and I live in California, just south of San Francisco on the peninsula. I’m married to The Husband and we have a seven-year old son, The Dude. I’m a fairly new preschool teacher who loves her job with her whole heart. We have lived in America for nearly seven years and we utterly love it here. We love the weather, we love the country, we love the people most of all.

I am a Christian. Don’t worry, I’m not a preacher.

I’m not a sporty girl but I love running. I’ve done one marathon and about 15 half-marathons and that’s the distance I really love. I’m not very fast but I’m faster than I was last year!

I also love cycling, particularly cycle touring. Again, I’m pretty slow but I cycle with a MASSIVE grin on my face.

I have a congenital heart condition. It’s not particularly grave and so I am able to continue doing the things I love, although I am careful. I try to eat healthily but have an enormous weakness for cake.

Love your blog! So glad you commented on mine so I could come check you out:). I am glad you like the U.S and Cali. I am a huge fan of San Fran and am thinking next July I am going to do the San Fran marathon for my 30th bday.

Thanks for the compliments! You should def do SF although it’s hilly so it’s not PR material. It is a great race though and the city is so fab!! It’s June 16th next year though…not sure how that fits in with your birthday!

I love touring atop the saddle of a bike! Where have you toured?

    • Cathryn says:

Golly I miss it!! We’ve mainly toured in Europe, with a little jaunt in Florida and two weeks in India. We’re hoping to re-start our touring this summer!!!

      • Al says:

Oh wow! Where did you go in India? I would love to take my bike there one day.

      • Cathryn says:

We toured in a group actually – we felt India was a little beyond our independent-travel capabilities. We had two weeks in Rajasthan and we loved it!!! Go, it’s a great place to tour. Nothing like cycling past an elephant to make you grin.

Hi Cathryn, found your blog from HungryRunnerGirl. I’m English too, and living in N.J. now, expats unite! My sister lives in Northern CA, so I’ve been to S.F. a couple of times, beautiful city!

Hey, lovely to hear from you!! Yeah, we love it here, it’s a great place to live!! Are you enjoying NJ? We’re at home in the UK at the moment, the snow is amazing!! But oh it’s cold.

I was searching for running events in the Netherlands and found your post you wrote about it. Funnily enough, I’m an American living and running in England right now and I have a fainting disorder tied to my heart. Thank you for the great post on running in the Netherlands!
