This week in running…

Thanks everyone for your kind words about Bay Breeze! I’m still buzzing about it! Brazen Racing do this great thing where they allow amateur photographers on the course, and they upload their photos onto Picasa for us runners to download free of charge. Out of about 2,000 photos on the website, I’ve found two of me.

Oh well 😉

This week, I had maybe a few too many days off running, but my legs were tired. The Hellyer Half Marathon is next Saturday (the 1st) so I can’t slack off yet.

Saturday: Bay Breeze 10k at 8.18 pace 🙂

Monday: President’s Day bike ride – 10.5 miles

To help the Dude recover from the disappointment of realising it was President’s Day and not Presents Day, we headed into the city and rented a Tag-Along/Trail-a-bike for the first time. We met up with my friend Amanda and cycled along the Bay from Fisherman’s Wharf, over Golden Gate Bridge and into Sausalito where we had lunch, ice-cream and got the ferry home.

The Tag-along felt VERY wobbly at first but the Dude adored it and spent most of the ride shrieking ‘This is fun’, ‘This is amazing’ or singing ‘A bicycle made for two’. I liked being in control of where he was cycling and covering longer distances was much easier for him than pedaling his own bike. I’m a little nervous as to how it would handle on my own drop-handle-barred bike as opposed to the flat-bar hire bike I had to use, but I think we’ll be scouring Craig’s List for one.

Wednesday: Long Run – 11.8 miles at 8.43 pace

I intended to throw  3,2,1 tempo miles into this long run but it turned into one of those lovely long runs that felt effortless so I just kept going at a faster speed. Aided by a tailwind on the second half, I breezed down the bay trail, my legs like a machine. It was awesome. The final three miles hurt a bit, but all in all, this was a great run.

PM – 2.5 mile hike at Edgewood Park

edgewoodMet a friend and her newborn for a gentle hike with the Dude. My first time back on the trails since Pacifica, I’ve really missed hiking! Totally failed to go to yoga in the evening, I was knackered after running and hiking.

In other news….

..I’ve signed up for a 10 mile race on Angel Island in April and my lovely friend Louise is running it too. It’s Lou’s first ever race and I am seriously excited about this already.  All the runners get the ferry over from Tiburon (like a school trip) and we’ll run round the island twice, enjoying the spectacular views over San Francisco. Can’t wait!

…and I spent a birthday Amazon voucher that my wonderful Aunt and Uncle sent me…and bought this. Run Geekery at its finest. Can’t wait to watch it.
