A year ago, I set some resolutions and goals for 2013. Bearing in mind I’m not going to achieve anything spectacular in the final few days of the year, let’s take some time to see what happened.
1) 4 half-marathons including one trail half!
2) PR at the Half-Marathon – 1.55 or less.
Tick! 1.53.57 to be precise.
3) 10k under 53 mins
Ugh. Half a tick! Was on track to go sub 52 and then Anklegate happened.
4) 5k under 25 mins.
In reality, that was beyond my ability. I did manage two 26 min 5ks, one pushing a stroller, so I’m happy with that. 5ks don’t bother me much.
5) Do a relay.
Epic Fail. Roll over to 2014.
6) Get some local running friends.
Epic success 😉
7) Do at least 6 trail runs.
Away from running, I had a few other resolutions!
8) 6 Yoga classes.
Semi-tick. I did 4 classes before the holiday season took over, and I did 3 online classes.
9) 6 Zumba classes.
Seems I’m not that fussed about Zumba. Didn’t even try.
10) One new recipe every week.
Yep. Done it. I didn’t keep score but I’m confident I hit this.
11) Read 6 novels.
I read about 12 books in all, not just novels. Tick.
12) Watch 6 foreign films
Yep. My favourite was 17 filles which is really stylish and has an amazing soundtrack. Alas it was also notable for being the first movie that actually made me feel middle aged, boring and past-it.
13) Go camping 4 times.
Tick. We spent most summer weekends under canvas!
14) Go on a cycling tour.
GUTTED that this didn’t happen. I barely used my bike this year. I have to address this in 2014.
I also had an unofficial goal of running 1,000 miles in the year. It was less important than my other goals, and I would sacrifice miles in order to be injury free and to hit my time goals. But anyway…I did it, I’ve run 1,105 as of today and am hoping to hit 1,125 by the end of the year! Pretty chuffed with that!
All in all, not a bad year in terms of resolutions! Best of all, it was fun! It’s been a great year.
