A week in my shoes…31st May

It’s been a busy week. I feel like I’ve done a TON of exercise this week!! However the back end of the week fizzled out a little, darn!

The exercise extravaganza is primarily because the Husband has started a challenge at his work when he gets a pedometer and assembles a team and they see how many steps they can walk every day. Other forms of exercise translate into steps and they aim for 10,000. Now the Husband is slightly competitive (!) so he’s relishing the challenge.

He got me a pedometer as well. It’s been really interesting seeing how many steps I take every day. On average, since last Thursday, I’ve taken 18,613 steps every day. My steps tend to be slow, ambling pre-schooler size steps, but nevertheless…there they are!!

So, in summary:

Saturday: 11.4 miles trail run with Jen….AND THEN a 14 mile bike ride, half into a headwind and half pulling the Dude in his trailer! I was HUNGRY and tired that evening!

Sunday:   2.6 miles easy hike with my boys and a 3 mile easy run.

Monday: 6 miles hike with my boys.

Tuesday: I was supposed to do my long run this morning but the Dude stayed off pre-school due to copious amounts of green snot so I shifted it to Wednesday. And my aching legs breathed a sigh of relief.

Wednesday: 10 miles

I’d intended to run 13, alternating my speed. But I slept ridiculously badly and opted to run 3 miles less and sleep/rest half an hour longer. As such, I was pretty pleased with 10 steady miles in the early morning, in 1.32 at a 9.06 pace.

Thursday evening: 6.1 miles tempo run

But alas no. It was ‘that day of the month’ and my aching, swollen stomach flatly refused to run. Baby or Warrior? Baby, today. (Also…I’m kind of keen to talk about how ‘that week’ affects our running but would that be disgusting?)

And now it’s the weekend. This wraps May up at 88 miles. I wish I’d managed Thursday’s planned 6 miles to bring it into the 90s, as my goal was 100 miles. But there it is!

Have a great weekend, everyone! We’re off to a wedding!

It might be a little gross, but running in general can be gross. I say go for it!

Ha….running can be a little gross 🙂 Okay, I might draft a post and see if it’s too nasty!!!

I think you should go for the “time of the month” post. It’s something that affects all female runners! Maybe it would less “gross” if you could find more sciencey/research-oriented papers instead of anecdotal evidence?

      I think you’re right 😉
