A week in my shoes…May 3rd

How did it get to May? Seriously!

By the time you read this, I should be in the air, winging my way to Hawaii for a week. Oh, I’m excited. It’s our first time…if you’ve been to Oahu and Kauai and have some recommendations, let me know! I’ve been using walkjogrun for some running route ideas – I’m assuming everyone knows about this website but if you don’t, it’s a great resource for finding running routes around the world.

Running this week…not too bad.

Saturday: 6.1 miles Apple Hill Trail Race

Thanks for all your lovely comments…I’m still buzzing on adrenaline from the race!

Happy to finish

Tuesday: Runday Tuesday…10 miles

Thursday: 6 mile tempo run and 8 mins abs

It turns out that I’d rather cover my grey hairs, pack my bags and stay mildly sane than fit in an extra run. I feel a little slack, got to be honest, but never mind.

My target for May is 100 miles but for the next week or so, I’ll just be padding round an island, with a couple of shorter runs for fun. Aloha, everyone…

Mmmm Hawaii… only my favorite place in the world! In Oahu, check out Ala Moana park – if you’re staying in the Waikiki area, it won’t be far away. Lots of people run there, it’s nice 🙂 My goal is to one day run up to Diamond Head and back. But a hike is also great 🙂 It’s very easy, your kid could do it on his own. I’ve heard great things about the North Shore (Oahu), too, and of course, Kauai, but I haven’t been to either of those… yet 🙂 Enjoy!!

Hope you have an amazing time. The only tip I have is food based- which should come as no surprise I guess. If you like mango flavored things and see Roselani Tropics Ice Cream in Mango’n Cream I would give it a try. Best ice cream I have ever had. When the hubs and I were on Oahu we bought some from a grocery store stole two plastic spoons and ate as much as we possible could out of the carton. There is also a really neat hiking trail called Diamond Head which has beautiful views and if you can rent a car and drive around the island of Oahu, up to the North Shore, that is really fun too.. And the seafood is amazing. My parents love Kauai so I am sure that will be amazing.

Thank you!!! We will keep an eye out for the ice-cream especially. Good luck tomorrow!

    1. And I know nothing about what to visit, but you should have some huli huli sauce. My sis-in-law grew up in Hawaii, and that’s her family’s business. It’s so delicious!

I shall hunt some out. Thanks for the hint!!!
