My Half Marathon bucket list!

I got a very exciting email last week from a dear friend who lives in a European capital city and works for a Famous Boss. The aforementioned Famous Boss wanted to do a particular half-marathon but needed information. My friend knew exactly who would know how to find this out! Moi!!  So I had a thrilling couple of hours googling a particular half-marathon, emailing organisers etc, to find out the answer. It was a triumph, and my friend earned lots of brownie points!!

(I’m also pitching for the Famous Boss and my friend to come to SF for the half-marathon in June but we’ll see how that goes).

Anyway, now I can’t get the thought of that particular half-marathon out my head. It’s a city I know and love and I REALLY fancy running it. It’s not an option this year, but it inspired a sit-down with a glass of wine to put together a bucket list of half-marathons I want to do.

Here’s my current list.

  • Salzburg
  • Paris
  • Stockholm
  • Lisbon
  • Reykjavik
  • Lake Bled, Slovenia
  • Corsica
  • Florence
  • Berlin or Munich
  • Krakow
How can anyone not want to run here?

  • NYC
  • Chicago
  • San Francisco second half
  • Tahoe
  • Big Sur
  • Petaluma (you get a cow-bell as a medal)
  • Seattle or Portland or Eugene
  • Boulder (I have a crush on Colorado)
  • Hawaii
Yes, I have a thing for lakes and mountains

  • My new favourite city, Tokyo
  • Somewhere in the Canadian Rockies

Where’s on your list? Do you fancy any of these? Or which ones do you think I should add? Any not in Europe or the US? I’m aware that I’m a bit biased here.

Your list looks amazing! I WILL run Eugene one day! Oh and Hawaii would be awesome. I haven’t ever looked into races outside of the states because it isn’t in the realm of something I could afford, but maybe someday!

We’re lucky in that, at some point, we’ll move back to the UK and then Europe becomes much more affordable!! It’s a long way from the US, I agree!! Maybe Canada?

  2. That’s a great list! I went to Krakow a million years ago and loved that city so much. It would make fabulous running, I bet.

But I don’t see Alabama on your list!!! Really if I were going to add a half from my area to your list, it would be the Oak Barrel Marathon. That thing was gorgeous, in the hills of Tennessee. Plus, it’s close enough to Nashville that you can do more touristy things there.

Okay, I’m going to edit the post with suggestions from other bloggers! I particularly like this suggestion as, having googled it, it’s sponsored by JD which I am very fond of! And oh I’m jealous of you going to Krakow, it looks amazing.

So I have been thinking about this for awhile and I think you should add the Sedona, AZ half marathon to your list. If you ever get a chance – it is in Feb- it is a beautiful place to visit and a fun race with an awesome medal- and you know that is where my priority lies- medals.

Okay…will do. Sounds fab…I’d love some warmth and sunshine at the moment.
