Running in wine country

This week, we took the parents up to Sonoma for a few days of wine tasting, basking in the sunshine and eating some great food. Maybe a little too much great food, if I’m honest, and I’m an honest girl. So on Monday morning, I left my boys watching the Olympics in bed and set out for six miles of Sonoma roads.

It was a lovely run…cool and overcast. It’s such a pleasure to run on new streets and to see new sights. I ran mainly through residential streets for safety’s sake, although there are some great trails around Sonoma. But the houses were so lovely and I spotted a good few vines, so it was exactly what I wanted. I stopped a lot to take photos. I ran 6.3 miles in roughly 56 minutes (my watch-stopping wasn’t the sharpest when I paused to take photos), so I was pleased with that.

Good morning! It’s going to be a lovely day

The sun came out after breakfast and the rest of the day was split between wine tasting, eating and going to Train Town, the local railway-themed children’s attraction. My Dad and my son loved it!

Artesa Winery, my favourite!

Grapes!

I could live here!!

  1. Gorgeous, gorgeous run! I’m always nervous to hit trails by myself too. And sounds like you are not wasting a precious moment with your parents.

I’m ITCHING to run trails but I’m just too cautious!!! And yes, we’re packing the adventures in with the parents!! So lovely to have them.

  2. Love Sonoma!! It is awesome. 🙂

I love it there. I would move there in a flash if it wasn’t so far from my husband’s job! Sonoma and Tahoe City, those are the places I’d live in Cali if I could choose.
